TOPSHAM – Just Write Books will present Poetry Reading and Slam by local poets from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Border Trust Business Center, 2 Main St. This event is a part of “Longfellow Days, the Brunswick Legacy,” a celebration of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 200th birthday.
Readings will be given by H.R.Coursen, Margaret Rockwell Finch, and Sherry Ballou Hanson. Following these readings, there will be a poetry slam open to all poets.
The schedule of events:
1:30 p.m. sign-up for the poetry slam contest. Participants should bring three or four poems so they can read a different poem with each round of the slam.
1:35-2:30 p.m. Poetry readings by H.R. Coursen, Margaret Rockwell Finch and Sherry Ballou Hanson.
2:30-2:40 p.m. Short break
2:40-4:30 pm. Poetry slam, complete rules for which may be found at www.jstwrite.com under “Events.”
Poets must sign up before the readings to participate in the slam. The event is free.
