The Sun Journal printed an excellent article about a proposed wind farm in Kibby Township. (Jan. 14)

I hope that the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission allows the project and the building of the 44 wind turbines for economic and environmental reasons – the construction of the wind turbines will create 250 construction jobs. After construction, the turbines will require at least 10 full-time workers to do maintenance.

That area of Maine could use the jobs.

And, environmentally speaking, wind farms are much cleaner than burning fossil fuels such as coal. They will reduce a lot of air pollution because the project is capable of producing the electric needs of 40,000 homes.

Wind power projects should be considered in many other states because it is a win for the local economy and a win for a cleaner environment.
