SALEM – Brittany York popped in 12 points and hauled down 11 rebounds Tuesday as Mt. Abram handed Monmouth a 38-25 loss in an MVC girls’ tilt.
Kenni Norton chipped in for the Roadrunners (9-7) with 10 points, while Logahn Walker added eight.
The Mustangs (12-3), who were ranked second in the most recent Heal points, were paced by Jen Lola with 10 points. Both squads played a strong defense, shutting down players like Lola who generally score much higher.
Buckfield 52, OOB 42
BUCKFIELD – Alyssa Henderson and Ashley Hamann combined for six 3-pointers, and Henderson scored seven of her game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday to lead Buckfield past Old Orchard Beach, 52-42, in an interconference girls’ basketball game.
Hamann added 19 points for the Bucks (8-2), including four strikes from beyond the arc. Tristen Newton pulled down 11 rebounds to boost the Class D Bucks, who outscored Class C OOB 13-8 in the fourth quarter. Shannon Moseley notched 17 points for the Seagulls (6-9).
Rangeley 40, Kents Hill 14
KENTS HILL – Angela White connected for 10 of her game-high 13 points in the decisive first half in helping Rangeley cruise to a 40-14 win over Kents Hill.
White also added nine rebounds and five steals for the Lakers (11-4), who led 23-8 after the first 16 minutes. Krista Jamison was also in double figures with 11 points.
Lina Hoelker led the Huskies (4-10) with seven points.
Winslow 52, Oak Hill 32
WALES – Lin Richards drained 14 points to lead Winslow to a 52-32 victory over Oak Hill.
The Black Raiders (9-7) led 19-9 after the first quarter and led the rest of the way.
Ambyr Provost and Amanda Corbin had six points each for the Raiders (2-13).
St. Dom’s 49, Gray-NG 44
AUBURN – Abby Gilbert erupted for 26 points Tuesday night to spark St. Dom’s to a pivotal 49-44 triumph over Gray-New Gloucester.
The Saints (8-7) entered the night one spot below the cutoff for the Western Class C tournament and should reap a hefty Heal Point windfall from knocking off the Class B Patriots (8-7). Gilbert notched 10 of the Saints’ 14 points in the third period, when they increased a 23-20 halftime lead to 37-30.
Katie Lyon and Kelsey Murphy combined for 14 rebounds to give St. Dom’s numerous second chances. Jen Farynaz led G-NG with 13 points. Chelsey Durgin added 12.
Mt. Ararat 43, Lewiston 18
LEWISTON – Jessica Stahl drained 14 points Tuesday to pace Mt. Ararat to a 43-18 rout over Lewiston.
The Eagles jumped out to a 24-6 lead in the first half and were never challenged.
Danielle Willey and Amanda Cloutier paced the winless Blue Devils (0-15) with four points apiece.
Lake Region 56, Wells 36
NAPLES – Kayla Nowell led Lake Region with 11 points and Z.Z. Leighton and Erica Webb notched nine apiece to launch the Lakers to a 56-36 WMC win Tuesday over Wells.
Lake Region (13-2) exploded to a double-digit lead after one period and enjoyed a 37-13 margin at halftime. Brooke Stevens paced Wells (8-7) with 10 points.
