Italian supper
HEBRON – An Italian supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Hebron Community Baptist Church to benefit the furnace fund. The church’s two furnaces failed, requiring two new furnaces as well as a rebuilt chimney.
The menu will consist of pizza, shells, meat and veggie lasagna, salads, garlic bread and angel food cake with strawberries, as well as beverages, for a price of $6 a person. For more information, call 966-2694.
Donates items
WOODSTOCK – Curator Larry Billings has donated a number of items to the Woodstock Historical Society Museum.
He gave two shaving brushes to go with barber items donated by the late Spike Noyes, the town barber for years. He also contributed books, including cookbooks for Maine berries and lobsters, small works on movies and actors, and biographies of Bette Davis and Elizabeth Taylor.
Finally, Billings gave a volume on the first 150 years of the Fryeburg Fair.
Notes birthday
WEST PARIS – Elmer L. Waterhouse celebrated his 99th birthday at a party on Jan. 20 in the activity room at the Ledgeview Living Center.
There were more than 50 in attendance. Music was provided by Cack Bean, Richard G. Felt, Cleveland Lovejoy, Erlon Hadley, Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse, Katherine Lovejoy and Bertha DeHaas.
Daughter Gerri Austin wrote a song that was sung by Waterhouse and DeHaas, with everyone joining in on the chorus. It was sung to the tune of “Jesus Loves Me.” Katherine Lovejoy accompanied on the piano and Bean on the dobro.
A poem, “Ode to Uncle Elmer,” was written and read by his niece, DeHaas. The party was planned by daughters, Gloria Fleming and Gerri Austin, and granddaughters, Rhonda Yap and Patty Murray.
School lunches
PARIS – The Oxford Hills District lunch menus are announced for Feb. 1 and 2. A salad bar with bread and fruit is offered daily. Alternate to the main entree is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. A container of milk is served with meals and the menus are subject to change without notice.
Thursday: Chicken quesadilla, peas, pineapple chunks.
Friday: Hamburger on a bun with lettuce and tomato, pretzels, applesauce.
