A combined effort by Maine and Massachusetts police brought a man wanted for an armed robbery in Bridgton into custody Friday morning.

Dean L. Tosi, 25, was apprehended at a private residence in Lowell, Mass., at 9:30 a.m., according to Bridgton police Sgt. Douglas Taft.

“He did not resist arrest, but he did attempt to conceal himself,” Taft said. “With the help of a K-9 unit, he was found.”

Tosi was wanted in connection with a Jan. 13 incident in which he and Jerry D. Gibson, 25, allegedly kidnapped a Naples man from the parking lot of the Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 302.

The two men, both from the Lewiston-Auburn area, threatened the man with a gun and stole $3,800 and two men’s rings before releasing him at an unspecified location in Naples, police said.

According to Taft, Gibson turned himself into Bridgton police shortly after the robbery.

Members of Maine’s Violent Crimes Task Force based in Lewiston, along with Massachusetts State Police and police from Lowell, arrested Tosi.

Tosi was being held at the Middlesex County Jail in Massachusetts Sunday night on charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and being a fugitive from justice. The extradition process to bring him back to Maine will start Monday, said Taft.
