AUGUSTA – Police rounded up another fugitive late Monday night as a result of Lewiston-Auburn’s most wanted being profiled in the Sun Journal and on WGME-TV that day.

Randall Rua, 20, was arrested at a Grove Street apartment in Augusta by Augusta police at 11:55 p.m., bringing the total arrests to three as a result of the police-media partnership. Rua’s last known address was 73 Pine St. in Lewiston.

Tips called in to the hot line Monday night led Lewiston police to believe Rua was hiding out in the Augusta area. They notified Augusta police, according to Sgt. Michael Parshall of the Lewiston Police Department.

Augusta police caught up with Rua several hours later at a Grove Street apartment and made the arrest just before midnight, according to Sgt. Mark Desjardin of the Augusta Police Department.

Rua, who was wanted on two outstanding warrants in Kennebec County for probation revocation and failure to appear on a charge of theft, was transported to the Kennebec County Jail. He was also wanted in Androscoggin County on a warrant for assault. Rua has a criminal history of domestic assault, theft, vehicle theft, burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and served time in the local jail.

Tips continued to come in to the hot line Monday night and Tuesday, according to Lt. James Minkowsky of the Lewiston Police Department.
