Circle to meet

RUMFORD – St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the St. John St. Athanasius Church Hall. The committee will include Pat Arsenault, chairwoman, with members Dot Chrissikos, Kay Lawer and Theresa Vaillancourt. Members are reminded that their 2007 dues of $15 need to be paid. Story hour

MEXICO – Valentine’s Day stories will be featured at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Mexico Public Library’s preschool story and craft hours. All children ages 2 to 5 are welcome. Stories to be read include “Valentine Mice!” by Bethany Roberts, “If You’ll be My Valentine” by Cynthia Rylant, “Heart to Heart” by George Shannon and “Max’s Valentine” by Rosemary Wells. The craft will be making Valentine mice.

Gorham program

GORHAM, N.H. – The Gorham Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, to discuss the 100th anniversary of the former Grand Trunk Railroad Station this year. Location of the meeting will be announced later.

The Centennial Celebration will be held on Aug. 11. The society has booked the Strawberry Farm Band, a bluegrass band. Local folks with varied talents are asked to participate.

Valentine dance

PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will hold its Valentine sweetheart dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris.

Chris Pinkham will call main stream and plus levels for the square dancing and Scott Williams will cue the round dancing.

Refreshments will be served at intermission. Nondancers are welcome to watch at no charge.
