LIVERMORE – A fast-moving fire destroyed a home at 124 Maple Lane on Thursday night.
Owner John Miller said he had been out with his girlfriend when the fire started and had arrived home to find the house gone. Miller is employed as an insurance adjuster.
Scott Richmond of the Livermore Fire Department said the blaze was called in by neighbors about 8 p.m., and by shortly after 9 p.m. it had destroyed most of the home. Richmond said it looked as if the blaze may have started in the basement area.
The house was still standing shortly after 9 p.m., but was considered a total loss.
Firefighters were battling below-zero temperatures and ice, making maneuvering there dangerous.
No pets were kept in the home.
