NORWAY – The Norway-Paris Fish and Game Association will sponsor the annual ice fishing derby on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24 and 25, at Lake Pennesseewassee.

The event raises money for the club’s activities, including sending area children to the Maine Conservation Camp in Bryant Pond, and funding improvements to the range on Route 117, South Paris.

Prizes will be awarded for adults and juniors in six categories as well as a consolation prize for the overall largest fish brought in. Any child who brings in a fish of any kind will receive a prize.

Tickets are $1 each and qualify holders for the derby as well as raffle prizes, which include an LL Bean fly rod outfit, tickets to the New Hampshire International Speedway, a weekend fishing trip with member and Maine Guide Fern Bosse, a weekend of camping at Black Brook Campground on Aziscohos Lake and hand-tied streamer flies from S&F Streamers.

Tickets can be purchased from any club member, at local bait and tackle shops and at the Red Schoolhouse Clubhouse at the head of Norway Lake, Route 118, during the derby.

The club will serve food and refreshments from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the clubhouse for fishermen and any one else who visits.
