Cold fingers, sure. Sore backs, of course.

As far as major medical ailments, however, local hospitals say the Valentine’s Day storm did not bring about an upsurge of emergencies.

Jennifer Radel, spokeswoman at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, said on Thursday: “Yesterday, our emergency department actually had a slow afternoon.”

By Thursday afternoon, there were no new cases of heart or other problems related to Wednesday’s storm or recent weather.

“Not a one,” Radel said.

A spokeswoman at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston said they also had seen no spike in health emergencies related to recent weather.

Likewise, Central Maine Power Co. was faring well. After seeing fewer than 2,000 outages at the height of the storm, there were less than 100 customers without power by noon Thursday.

By Thursday night, power had been restored to all of them.
