KINGSTON, Mass. (AP) – Seven students and two adults were taken to the hospital after a man driving an SUV struck a school bus Thursday morning, police said.

An SUV turning from Joseph Street on to Route 27 apparently slid and struck the front of the bus, public safety officials said. The accident occurred near Silver Lake Regional High School. The cause of the crash is under investigation, Kingston Police Sgt. John Lind said.

The students, in grades seven through 12, were treated and released after being taken to Jordan Hospital for evaluation, Silver Lake Superintendent Dana Parker said. The driver of the school bus also was treated at Jordan and released, he said.

The SUV driver was taken to a Boston hospital, but the extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
