Lewiston holds a special place in my heart. Since the summer of 1994, when I was a Sun Journal intern visiting from Albania, and later as a L-A College student, I made many friends there, and I have grown to appreciate the rich history of the area’s hardworking, hospitable and generous people.

I am very excited that Larry Gilbert wants to become mayor of Lewiston. He represents the best of Lewiston. I know that because I was a houseguest at his home for an entire year while attending L-A College.

I believe that Larry Gilbert will be a great mayor. He cares deeply about the city, works hard, and is committed to public service. More important, he genuinely likes and cares for people. One always wonders how genuine a candidate’s smile and handshake are, but his are 100 percent genuine.
