I congratulate the Sun Journal and staff writer Kathryn Skelton for a fine job of reporting in the article published Feb. 11. The article was an analysis of the the River Valley Technology Center and other centers.

For some time, it has been my belief that taxpayers were sending good money after bad. During my last term in the Legislature, I did support an appropriation to launch the project. It was my hope that the River Valley Growth Council would have the same success as the folks in Oxford Hills. Sadly, that is not the case, as the article so eloquently pointed out.

There are a lot of politics being played with those centers, and one only has to look at where they are located – I will support your center, if you support mine. I believe that is a great waste of taxpayer money. If we must have technology centers, they should be located at the state unversity, where there is trained staff and the facilities to get the job done.

I hope that our legislators put an end to this waste of tax dollars. As the article said, “$3.2 milion in. One new job out.”
