LEWISTON – The legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. will be honored with a panel discussion at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Lewiston-Auburn College.

The public is invited to attend the free event, which will highlight one of King’s most critical speeches, “Beyond Vietnam, a Time to Break Silence.”

A reception with light refreshments will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the program at 4:30 in the function room. Highlights will include excerpts of King’s speech being read by members of a local youth group and Native-American students drumming and performing an honor song.

The event is being co-sponsored by NAACP Portland Branch, Peace Action Maine, City of Lewiston, City of Auburn, Bates College, Lewiston Public Library, Auburn Public Library, USM Office of Provost, USM Office of Campus Diversity & Equity, USM Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, Lewiston-Auburn College and the Lewiston-Auburn College Diversity Committee.
