Life of Pi tells of Piscine Patel’s story, of how he was the lone survivor of a cargo ship, and how the only other occupant of his lifeboat is a 450 pound male Bengal tiger.

The book is scattered with bits of deep meaning. Like how Pi practices three religions, because of his love of God. How, in the end, he knew that without Richard Parker (the tiger), he would have never survived.

I really enjoyed this book after the adventurous part starts. The beginning is a little dull, but the rest is magnificent. You can actually know what it’s like to be stranded like Piscine, and I think I even picked up a few survival skills.

I think that this would be more of a middle school, high school read however, for there is some violence between animals. I give it a ten out of ten!
