FARMINGTON – Literacy Volunteers serving Franklin and Somerset counties will sponsor a movie at the Narrow Gauge Cinema on Sunday, March 11. The movie, “The Painted Veil,” starring Ed Norton and Naomi Watts, is a love story based on Somerset Maughm’s novel of the same name. The showings will be held at 1 and 4 p.m.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance at Mickey’s, Twice Sold Tales or Devaney, Doak and Garrett Booksellers in Farmington. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the shows.

Proceeds from the show will be used to train volunteer tutors to help adults improve their literacy skills on a one-to-one, confidential basis. In addition, volunteers also support family literacy programs, train teen tutors to assist their peers and younger students and provide readers in schools and nursing homes. For more information regarding the group’s activities, call 778-3460.
