ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) – Trotting Triple Crown winner Glidemaster was chosen harness racing’s 2006 Horse of the Year on Sunday.

Glidemaster, who set a trotting single-season record of $1.9 million in earnings, also was voted best 3-year-old colt trotter and trotter of the year.

In balloting for the Dan Patch award as Horse of the Year, Glidemaster received 119 votes from the U.S. Harness Writers Association. Passionate Glide, the 3-year-old filly trotter of the year, was second with 39 votes.

Glidemaster, trained by Blair Burgess, won the Hambletonian in stakes-record time and added the Kentucky Futurity and Yonkers Trot to sweep the Triple Crown. John Campbell drove Glidemaster for most of the year until being sidelined with a broken leg in October. George Brennan took over for the colt’s final two starts, including the Yonkers Trot.

-Donato Hanover, 2-year-old colt trotter

-Pampered Princess, 2-year-old filly trotter

-Sand Vic, older male trotter

-Peaceful Way, older female trotter

-Artzina, 2-year-old colt pacer

-Isabella Blue Chip, 2-year-old filly pacer

-Darlins Delight, 3-year-old filly pacer

-Burning Point, older female pacer
