LEWISTON – SeniorsPlus and Northeast Bank have teamed up to generate funds for the local Meals on Wheels program. Northeast Bank will sell die-cut vans for $1 at their locations in Androscoggin and Oxford counties to support Meals on Wheels.

“The support from Northeast Bank is important to make sure SeniorsPlus can afford to deliver meals to all the homebound seniors in our area who need them,” said Pam Allen, executive director of SeniorsPlus.

Every March, SeniorsPlus participates in the national March for Meals campaign to raise awareness, donations and volunteers for Meals on Wheels. The campaign slogan is “So No Senior Goes Hungry.”

Several area credit unions and social and patriotic organizations support the March for Meals with donations and several schools hold coin drives. Donations from the public are always welcome or drop in at Northeast Bank and purchase a van.

SeniorsPlus delivers a lunch-time meal to 350 seniors. It is the area agency on aging for Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties. Since 1972, SeniorsPlus has provided information and services to older citizens. SeniorsPlus is dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors and may be found on the Internet at www.seniorsplus.org. The main office is at 8 Falcon Road.
