The winter storm that arrived in Maine this morning has forced the Maine Principals’ Association to postpone the basketball and hockey games scheduled for tonight until Saturday.

The Class B girls’ and boys’ basketball state championship games will begin at noon Saturday with the girls’ contest between Lake Region and Waterville at the Cumberland County Civic Center. The boys’ game between Mountain Valley and Camden Hills will follow the awards presentation for the girls’ game at approximately 1:45 p.m.

The Class A East semifinal hockey games at the Colisee, including the contest between No. 4 Lewiston and No. 1 Brunswick, will still be played Saturday night but have been moved back 1/2 hour to accommodate the Western A games that were postponed to Saturday afternoon.

The afternoon session begins at noon with the West semifinal between No. 3 Kennebunk and No. 2 Biddeford. That will be followed at 2 p.m. by the game between No. 5 Scarborough and top-seeded Falmouth.

Following the completion of that game, the Colisee will be cleared. A separate admission will be charged for the evening games, which will pit No. 3 Bangor and No. 2 Waterville at 6:30 p.m., and Lewiston and Brunswick at 8:30 p.m.
