FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington’s Religion and Philosophy Club and St. Joseph’s Campus Ministry are engaged in a fundraising initiative in support of the Peter M. Goodrich Memorial Foundation’s work to build schools for girls and promote other educational initiatives in Afghanistan.

The students have compiled and published a cookbook containing recipes for Maine senior citizens; and the books are being sold for $6 (plus $1.50 shipping if mailed).

The Goodrich Foundation is directed by Sally Goodrich and was created in memory of her son, Peter, who was killed in one of the planes that flew into the World Trade Center Towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

The foundation’s purpose is to encourage the love of learning.

For those interested in learning more about the foundation’s work, Sally Goodrich will speak at UMF from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in Lincoln Auditorium, Roberts Learning Center. Her visit is being sponsored the UMF’s Diversity Committee and the Religion and Philosophy Club.

Cookbooks are available at Mickey’s Hallmark Shop, Main Street, or by contacting Jennifer Reid at jreid@maine.edu or 778-9644.
