JAY – A Livermore Falls woman was listed in fair condition at a Lewiston hospital Tuesday after she was injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday on Main Street.
Rose Palmer, 63, was traveling north on Main Street, also known as Route 4, when a vehicle driven by Alphee Langlais, 56, of Canterbury, N.H., which was traveling south, turned into her path, Jay police officer Russell Adams said Tuesday.
Langlais was making a left turn onto Otis Street when the nearly head-on accident occurred, Adams said.
Palmer complained of internal injuries and was transported by NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center where she remained Tuesday.
Langlais was not injured, Adams said.
A Maine State Police trooper from the weights and measures division helped direct traffic until Jay firefighters could arrive. Livermore Falls police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. also stepped in to divert traffic near Jewell Street.
Both Palmer’s 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 1992 Chrysler New Yorker Langlais was driving, which was registered to Ronald White of Boscawen, N.H., were totaled, Adams said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, Adams said.
