Earlier this month, the tapping ceremony, which introduces new members into the National Honors Society (NHS) at Lisbon High School, took place. Eleven students were selected by faculty council members and by the chapter advisor, Mrs. Brenda McKee.

In order to become part of the National Honors society, students must maintain a grade point average of 90 or better and must demonstrate the following characteristics: Character, Leadership, Scholarship and Service. The official induction ceremony took on February 28, and involved speeches by the current NHS members, a lighting of the yellow candle and readings, including the membership oath.

Once a part of NHS, students must perform individual service projects and must continue to uphold the expectations set. NHS also raises money for different charities and organizes such events as the Valentines Day flower sale. Congratulations to those who were chosen, and a special praise for those members who were already part of National Honors Society.
