The fund, established in 2002, is a nonprofit organization created to fund projects and programs that expand educational opportunities, foster creativity and enhance academic excellence in Lewiston’s public schools.

The board of directors votes on projects that are proposed through a grant application process. Visit www.lewistoneducationfund.org for an application or to view the various school projects that have been funded in the past.

The fund has granted more than $17,500 in the past year, including Project START, a new student aspirations lab opening soon at the Lewiston Middle School.

For more information about how a company can impact the quality of life in the Lewiston-Auburn area, contact Leon Levesque, board secretary, at 795-4100 or e-mail him info@lewistoneducationfund.org.

The fund is building a general endowment that will provide funding for projects in schools into the future; all endowment funds are managed by the Maine Community Foundation. For more information, visit www.lewistoneducationfund.org.
