RUMFORD – A dance and supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the snowshoe club, Waldo Street. The menu will include corned beef and ham, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, turnip and dessert. Cost is $6 a person; $3, children under 12. The dance will be held from 8 to midnight with music by the Fitz Band. Members and guests are welcome.
St. Pat’s day
RUMFORD – St. Patrick’s Day events will be held on Saturday, March 17, at Black Mountain. The Greg Waite Memorial Race start time will be 4 p.m. Cost is $100 a team of four; $25, individuals; $5 a ski pass from 3 to 9 p.m. as long as registered for the race. Cost will be the regular price for nonracers.
A New England boiled dinner will be served; to make reservations, call 364-8977 by Thursday, March 15. It will include coffee, punch and dessert for $8. There will be prizes and drawings. Reserve a race spot at 364-8977. The Hooligans will play from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Squad open house
RUMFORD – The Sundown Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, will have an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Legion Hall, Congress Street.
Prospective members age 12 to 18 are invited to attend with their parents. Volunteer opportunities for adults and rescue training will be discussed. Young people interested in aviation, search and rescue training and learning military customs are invited. For more information, call 364-7901.
Kick-off meet
LIVERMORE FALLS – A kick-off meeting to discuss the gazebo market (farmer’s market) will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Treat Memorial Library.
In the past the market has run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The committee is looking for vendors to sell produce, seedlings, plants, herbs, butter, milk or any other Maine products. The market in is in need of produce for the summer.
Pancake breakfast
JAY – There will be a St. Patrick’s Day pancake breakfast hosted by the Franklin Democrats from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at the VFW Hall, corner of Jewell Street and Franklin Road. Attending will be Congressman Michael Michaud and many other dignitaries. Tickets will be on sale at the door: adults, $5; children under 10, $3.
Book sale
WILTON – The Wilton Free Public Library will conduct book sales during all upcoming events at the Nichols Building, located on the Weld Road. To celebrate the first book sale of the year at its new location, light refreshments will be served during the Home and Leisure Show on Saturday, March 17.
Basket bingo
TURNER – Basket Bingo will be held Sunday, April 1, at the Boofy Quimby Memorial Center, Route 219, North Turner. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and the games will start at 1 p.m. Cost is $20 a person for 20 games; blackout games extra.
