LEWISTON – War protesters will gather Saturday as part of a national event to mark the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq.

Lewiston-Auburn activities will include a march from the county courthouse in Auburn to Veterans Park in Lewiston between 1 and 2 p.m.

In Maine and across the country, groups will gather on village greens, ring church bells and read the names of service people killed in Iraq. The events are coordinated by a group called From Every Village Green, which advocates withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq and works to raise awareness of the human and financial costs of the war.
