On March 5, a man named Robert Raftice pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a 3-year-old girl and was sentenced by Justice Robert E. Crowley in Oxford County Superior court.
For his crimes, Robert Raftice will spend one year in prison followed by 12 years on probation. The leniency of this sentence is disgusting and appalling. We must fight for our children by contacting legislators and urge them to adopt “Jessica’s Law,” which mandates stiff sentences without parole for child sex offenders.
It’s embarrassing that Maine isn’t among those states already practicing that law.
