NORWAY – Harold J. Dixon, 94, of South Paris, died on Saturday, March 17, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Somerville, Mass., on Sept. 26, 1912, the son of George and Mary Donavon Dixon. He attended schools in North Saugus, Mass. and graduated from Saugus High School.
He had been an assembler at General Electric in Lynn, Mass., for 37 years, before retiring in 1975. He was a member and past president of the Men’s and Women’s Club in Lynn, Mass. He was a devout Catholic and attended church until he was physically unable to go.
He enjoyed square dancing, line dancing and round dancing, as well as camping at Westwood Shores in Ossipee, N.H. He married Agnes Donlan on June 15, 1935. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage before her death on July 24, 2004.
He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Carro and her husband, Charles, of South Paris; a son, Herbert E. Dixon, of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter; a sister, Barbara Canfield, of Saugus, Mass.; two brothers, George Dixon, of Alfred, and Phillip Dixon, of Massachusetts.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Popp; a brother, Edward Dixon; two brothers-in-law, Randolph Popp and Larry Canfield; and three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Dixon, Marjorie Dixon and Catherine Donlan.
