LEWISTON – The Napa Maine Motor Sports Festival – featuring more than two dozen cars and drivers from Oxford Plains Speedway, a monster truck, live music, pit crew challenges and vendors – will be held Friday and Saturday, March 30-31, at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
“The Maine Motor Sports Festival has become the unofficial kickoff to Maine’s auto racing season. People will have the chance to see the cars just a few short weeks before many of them hit the tracks for the 2007 season,” said J&J Family Enterprise Inc co-owners Jim Fahey and Joe Palmieri in a prepared statement.
Festival highlights include appearances by Jeremie Whorff, winner of the TD Banknorth 250; New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who will sign autographs from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday; and Portland Pirates legends, signing autographs Friday night.
Other activities include the U.S. Army rock wall, international arm wrestling, a chance to enter to win opening day tickets and limo ride to Fenway Park, indoor paint ball, and more than 50 vendors selling collectibles, clothing and cars parts and accessories.
“Auto racing continues to be one of the fastest growing sports in Maine and across the country. Every weekend this summer, you’ll be able to see, hear and feel that excitement at Oxford Plains Speedway,” Fahey and Palmieri said.
The Napa Maine Motor Sports Festival, now in its third year, will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
