LEWISTON – Larry Gilbert hopes to pick people’s brains this Saturday over coffee at Barnie’s.

“I’m just making myself available to get any input from any citizens,” the city’s mayor said. “I want to hear their concerns, their praise or whatever they have to say.”

Gilbert will be on hand from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Barnie’s Coffee and Tea Co. and Cafe at 70 Lincoln St. It’s located in Bates Mill Building No. 6.

Gilbert said he hopes to make the meetings regular occurrences.

“I’m going to try to do it one Saturday out of each month,” he said. He’ll move the meeting to a different coffee shop, cafe or restaurant around the city each month.

“Whatever concerns or ideas they have, I hope they come forward,” he said. “I just want to be up on the issues that they have, that I might not hear about them another way.”
