You may not think that global warming is affecting you, but it is. Every day, that sunny streak, the snow melting off your porch roof, those are all the effects it has on you. But it is not just the climate and weather. It also causes disease and sickness you’ve probably been experiencing. And global warming is not just affecting you, you are also affecting it! Even the simplest things, like burning wood in your furnace, or driving to and from school!

What is global warming? Global warming is an increase in the overage temperature of Earth’s surface. The concerns on the many scientists mind is that hundreds of ecosystems may not be ready to adapt to a warmer climate. This is proven by the polar bears that are right now experiencing melting polar caps. But who are these scientists? Well, they’re called climatologists or scientists who study the climate. They’ve been analyzing global warming ever since 1800’s.

Much of global warming is caused by human activity. Such as burning fossil fuels and the clearing of land. Every time you go out and start up your brand new SUV, your contributing to global warming by burning off gases. Carbon dioxide is the number one gas being unleashed into the atmosphere. Huge factories spread all across the world contribute to this growing phenomena Did you know that 7.3 percent of all global emissions in the U.S are caused by all trucks, trains, airplanes, cars, motorcycles and boats. Getting rid of all fossil-fuel-powered electricity plants in the world would cause a 39% reduction.

To prevent the continuously damaging process of global warming, we could all switch to windmills and solar to power our homes. This was once proposed to take place in Maine, but the plan was turned down, due to Bush thinking that it would hurt the U.S. economy. I think that it would be a great idea. Taking more bike rides and walks and less road trips could help also. My mom and I were talking a little while ago about how we should get windmills and solar’ power, and smaller vehicles and such. If we all just give a little bit up, then we could make this a cleaner world.

You know that extra dab of sunscreen you put on to protect your skin? Have you ever sat in front of the mirror and messed with hair products to get that perfect curl? Well, these also have their effects global warming. Stop using hair products and another bit of global warming is gone. Buy cars with more fuel efficiency Hybrids! Or battery-driven! I would say stop cutting down trees, but that wouldn’t work. We still need trees, to make paper, and build our houses with. But don’t be so wasteful of paper products! Think about this. You may turn out to be a super-hero after all, saving the world from a clear destruction.
