MONMOUTH – Scott T. Turcotte has been awarded the certificate of merit from the National Merit Scholarship Program based on his outstanding performance on the 2005 PSAT and his academic record.

Turcotte has now advanced to finalist standing in the Merit Scholarship competition of 2007 by demonstrating high potential for future academic accomplishment. In late March, finalists who become merit scholarship winners will be notified of their scholarship offers.

Another recent honor for Turcotte was his selection as the Monmouth Academy DAR Good Citizen. He was chosen by vote of his classmates based on the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.

Turcotte has now entered the DAR scholarship contest and is sponsored by the Winthrop area Mary Kelton Dummer-Patience Stanley Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Turcotte lives in North Monmouth with his parents, Thomas and Pamela Turcotte. In the fall, he will be a political science major at Brown University in Providence, R.I.
