MEXICO – The Learning Center at Region 9 and the School of Applied Technology at Region 9 have announced spring classes.

“Emergency Medical Technician”: The course is 150 hours and prepares participants to take the state EMT test. It will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and some Saturdays.

“Knitting Circle”: Experienced knitter Louise Smith will help beginners and not-so-beginners to improve their skills. Choose a project and get expert advise on how to complete it.

“Watercolor”: The class is designed for artists who have a basic or limited skill level in watercolor and would like to expand their knowledge of the medium. A variety of activities will be provided each week to challenge and stretch the artist’s “right brain.”

“Acrylic or Oil Painting”: Learn about composition, mixing colors, using brushes.

“Small Engine Repair”: An introductory hands-on for men and women. Learn the basics. Learn how to winterize small engines and what needs to be done to the lawn mower so it will run like new this spring.

“Build an Adirondack Chair”: Build a chair in class.

“Sunflower Stepping Stone”: Create a stepping stone for a garden or patio. The cement stone, waterproof paints and step-by-step tole painting instructions will be supplied by Christa. Students need to bring their own brushes.

“Bunny Border for Your Scrapbook”: Participants supply the scrapbook paper and the paint brushes; the school supplies the paints and the instruction.

“Harmonious Home Tune-up”: Learn useful techniques to organize and energize space using the principles of design know as feng shui.
