FARMINGTON – The February Farmington Emblem Club 460 supper/meeting night began with casseroles and dessert bars brought by members.
Maine Emblem Club President Annie McGinnis of Lewiston made her visitation, along with other dignitaries from Lewiston, Brunswick and Farmington. Children from the Cascade Brook School and their families were also guests of honor.
President Christine Greenleaf called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. There were 28 members and five guests present and 72 members absent.
Several members rehearsed on March 5 at the home of Kamilla Hall for the early morning flag-folding and choir singing ceremony performed prior to the House of Representatives meeting in Augusta on March 6. Americanism Chairwoman Nancy Chase also did a reading about Vietnam.
Shannon Smith gave a report on the club-sponsored Valentine dinner/dance held at the West Farmington Elks Lodge on Feb. 10. She reminded members of the club-sponsored basket beano games to be held at the lodge on Sunday, March 18. For tickets, call Smith at 778-4726.
She said eight members have signed up to go to the supreme convention in San Francisco in September and 20 members plan to go to the state convention in May.
Installation of officers for 2007-2008 will take place at the West Farmington Elks Lodge at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 31. Photos will be taken at 4:30 p.m. that day. Those planning to stay for the dinner after are to let Smith or Chase know. Rehearsal will be at 6 p.m. Friday, March 30.
The pot of gold was won by Becky Powell, mystery gift by Terrie Fletcher and the 50/50 raffle by Jean Corcoran. Donations will be made to the Wilton Free Public Library toward renovations and toward an academic trip to Australia.
McGinnis and the past Supreme president, Dottie Mackenzie, spoke at the end of the meeting. All those attending gave a standing ovation to Farmington Emblem Club 460 President Christine Greenleaf for a job well done.
