Sugar makers around the state will open their doors this weekend for Maine Maple Sunday. See firsthand how 40 gallons of maple sap is turned into one gallon of syrup. Most sugar houses offer free tasting and live demonstrations of how syrup is produced, from tap to table. Many offer a variety of other treats and activities, including syrup on pancakes or ice cream, sugarbush tours and sleigh or wagon rides. Some will arrange special tours and demonstrations for groups on other days as well. Call them to make arrangements.

These sugar houses are participating in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties. For a complete statewide list, go to: www.getrealmaine.com.
