People say they’re tired of paying high taxes. They must back Gov. John Baldacci and his bill to reduce school districts. That will save the taxpayers millions of dollars. The iron is hot, it’s time to strike.

Unless we force our representatives and senators to vote for this, it will cost us a lot of tax money.

If you talk to people on school boards and other people in the education field, you will hear that the proposal will hurt students; schools will have to cut programs and the students will suffer. As far as I can see, the only thing we will get rid of is some at the top of the clan.

I wonder how many representatives and senators are also teachers, or there are teachers in the family or involved in education. The people of this state are fed up with representatives and senators voting for themselves. I think this is called a conflict of interest.

People shouldn’t believe some of the rumors about education. If lawmakers don’t back the governor’s plan about education in the state, we can look for a Taxpayer Bill of Rights to be brought back next year, and this time I believe it will go through. People of this state are fed up with high taxes. Things have got to change.

State officials must stop the spending of the tax dollars.
