DENVER – Chris Porter’s wraparound goal 9:43 into overtime gave North Dakota a 3-2 victory over Minnesota on Sunday night in the NCAA West Regional championship.

The Fighting Sioux (24-13-5) advanced to their third straight Frozen Four and 17th in school history. North Dakota, a 38-16 in NCAA tournament play, has won seven national titles, the last in 2000.

Porter went around the net and stuffed the puck past Jeff Frazee to avenge the Sioux’s 3-2 overtime loss to Minnesota (31-10-3) last weekend in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association championship game.

Sioux goalie Philippe Lamoureux made 27 saves, including three in overtime.

Minnesota’s Jay Barriball tied it at 2 with 6:49 left in the third period.

Robbie Bina and Ryan Duncan added goals for North Dakota.

Mike Carman also scored for Minnesota.

North Dakota will face Boston College in the national semifinals on April 5 in St. Louis. Maine will play Michigan State in the other semifinal.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Joe Rooney scored two goals early in the second period, and Cory Schneider made 37 saves for Boston College in the Northeast Regional final.

Kyle Kucharski and Benn Ferriero also scored for the Eagles, 28-11-1 after their 12th straight victory. Miami of Ohio finished the season 24-14-4.
