The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced its annual best-of-the-best Monday, naming its first- and second-team all-stars and its all-rookie team.

Shocking to many, including Lewiston coach Clem Jodoin, is the omission of Maineiacs’ forward David Perron from the all-rookie team.

“Really?” Jodoin said in a phone interview Monday afternoon. “You’re serious?”

Hockey fans in Lewiston will likely echo Jodoin’s surprise. Perron led the No. 1 Maineiacs with 83 points, was second behind Rookie-of-the-Year Jakub Voracek of Halifax in rookie scoring, and led all rookies in goals with 39. He was also named the league’s rookie of the month twice, the only rookie to be so honored.

Despite the apparent snub, Jodoin remained focused on the task at hand.

“It’s just an individual honor,” Jodoin said. “The real goal, it’s the playoffs.”

Voracek joined Chris DiDomenico of Saint John and Michael Frolik of Rimouski, who finished 3-4 in rookie scoring, as forwards on the all-rookie team.

Simon Lacroix (Shawinigan) and Mark Barberio (Moncton) rounded out the rookie skaters on defense.

The Maineiacs did get some good news, though, as both goaltenders received accolades.

Peter Delmas was named to the all-rookie team after finishing third among all QMJHL goaltenders with a 2.81 goals-against average. Jonathan Bernier made the second-team all-star roster on the heels of a 26-win season, a 2.58 GAA and a .905 save percentage.

Ondrej Pavelec of Cape Breton is the league’s first-team all-star goaltender.

Defensemen Jean-Claude Sawyer and Oskars Bartulis (both of Cape Breton), as well as Benoit Doucet (Victoriaville), James Sheppard (Cape Breton) and Francois Bouchard (Baie-Comeau) rounded out the league’s second team.

On the first team, with Pavelec, are defensemen Kristopher Letang (Val-d’Or) and Andrew MacDonald (Moncton), and forwards Viatcheslav Trukhno (Gatineau), Mathieu Perreault (Acadie-Bathurst) and Thomas Beauregard (Acadie-Bathurst).
