POLAND – Poland Regional High School Project Graduation will hold its eighth annual auction on Saturday, March 31, at the school. The silent auction will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the live auction and bidding beginning at 6:30. Refreshments will be available.
A 12 x 16 original oil painting by Susan Roux, titled “Marsh Edge,” will be up for auction. Roux is a full-time painter living in Poland Spring. She is represented by the Wright Gallery in Cape Porpoise and the Blue Heron Gallery in Wellfleet, Mass.
Roux is a member of the Kennebec Valley Art Association and Turner Center for the Arts.
Roux said her art is an emotional reaction to the natural world which surrounds her. When she speaks about her oil paintings, her adoration for nature becomes apparent. It is with this same passion that she places layers of color on canvas. Roux is a colorist who captures emotion and movement through brushstrokes and paint. Her subjects of preference are landscapes and seascapes.
Roux received her education at Rhode Island School of Design and has been painting for 18 years. Her work can be seen on her Web site, www.susanroux.com. Other items to be auctioned are a canoe, heating oil, golf packages and lawn and garden products, donated by area businesses.
Anyone interested in donating items may contact Poland Regional High School at 998-5400, ext. 165, or e-mail [email protected].
