How would you parse the following statement made on March 22 by White House spokesman, and noted constitutional scholar, Tony Snow? “The executive branch is under no compulsion to testify to Congress, because Congress in fact doesn’t have oversight ability.”
Since when did Congress lose its oversight function? Do senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, and representatives Tom Allen and Mike Michaud know they are now completely irrelevant in the eyes of the executive?
What would have happened if President Clinton told Congress they had no oversight function? Why isn’t this president facing impeachment for his multiple crimes? President Clinton lies about consensual sex and he is impeached. This president is congenitally unable to tell the truth, took us to war illegally, drowned an American city and tortures detainees, and somehow he is still in office?
