FAYETTE – Fayette parents who are planning to enroll their children in kindergarten for the 2007-08 school year at Fayette Central School will need to register them on Tuesday, April 30.

To be eligible to start school in the fall, a child must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15. Call the school at 685-4770 to schedule an appointment.

At the time of registration, parents will need to bring the following: child to be registered, an official birth certificate, current immunization records, child’s Social Security card, proof of residency and custody document (if necessary).

It is required by state law that all children be screened prior to beginning public school. During the registration process, the child will receive a vision, speech, language, cognitive, motor and hearing screening. The procedures help the staff identify children who may need additional help in school.

The staff is also planning for next year’s prekindergarten program and need to find out how many children in Fayette are eligible to attend (age 4) in the fall. Those know of such children are asked to call the school as soon as possible.
