The governor of Maine, John Baldacci, has proposed adding $1 per pack for cigarettes in order to boost state revenues to fight the evils of smoking.

I ask, why not the same proposal for beer and liquor products to fight the evils of drinking and its associated evils? Why not treat both of the evils the same?

I’m sure the smokers would agree.
