FARMINGTON – A former Franklin County man was arrested Tuesday on a charge of unlawful sexual contact in connection with a young Temple girl.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Heidi Gould said the department conducted an investigation after receiving a referral from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

She arrested John Wiggins, 41, of Smithfield, after he consulted his lawyer and turned himself in to police, Gould said.
