PARIS – Three new members joined the Norway/Paris Lions Club on March 5: Vera Longbardi, Kathryn Lawrence and Cindee Thibodeau. Sponsors were Patty Cornell and Carol Williams.
The three were inducted by Bethel club President/Zone Chairwoman Gert Friel as it was a joint orientation celebration with the Bethel Lions Club, which had two new members join that evening as well. They were all presented membership pins after taking their oath.
The Norway/Paris Lions Club is made up of men and women whose mission is “to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation.”
The club is involved with eyesight preservation by collecting used eyeglasses for recycling, then distributed them to those in need.
The club meets at 6:30 p.m. every first and third Monday in the basement of the Deering Memorial United Methodist Church, corner of Main and Church streets, South Paris. The evening begins with a dinner served by members of the church followed by a meeting.
New members are welcome. If interested, contact the club president, Mark Danico, at 744-0023 or visit a meeting.
