PORTLAND – The University of Southern Maine’s Evenings at Abromson will continue with “An Evening of Storytelling: Time to Tell the Tale” Thursday, April 12.

The evening’s performers include nationally known, award-winning storytellers who will tell stories of their personal heritages. Four storytellers will take to the stage. Motoko weaves ancient lore, original tales, lyrical movement and traditional music. Her repertoire includes stories from her childhood in Japan and her life as an immigrant in the United States. Michael Parent, storyteller, author, musician and juggler, draws upon his Franco-American heritage to offer a captivating blend of stories and songs in both French and English.

Antonio Rocha combines mime, sound effects, zany characters and physical comedy in his stories from Brazil and around the world. Lorna Stengel, world traveler with lingual dexterity, reveals her never-ending delight in human nature no matter which culture the story comes from.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. at the Abromson Community Education Center on USM’s Portland campus. Tickets, $15 for general admission, can be reserved by calling 780-5900, or by visiting the Web site: http://www.usm.maine.edu/cce.
