We were tempted to be a bit smart-alecky with this procrastination advice. Ya know, like making No. 1: “Read these tomorrow.” But we are in the business of being helpful, so here goes. Oh, credit to the folks at health.com.

1. For three weeks, do what you plan to do, when you plan to do it. At the end of 21 days, you’ll probably be so organized you have nothing left on your list and you can go to the Bahamas. Actually, after three weeks the new behavior will be ingrained in you. Those in the know say so.

2. Take little nibbles. Don’t look at the big picture of cleaning the garage. Focus on one shelf.

3. Set the timer. Just work on your plan for 20 minutes. The next day, do 20 more.

4. Picture the end. Ta-da! Won’t finishing feel great?

5. Ditch the cutups who hold you back. Can’t they see you have work to do?
