MONMOUTH – The Monmouth Lions Club Speak-Out 2007 was held March 5 at the Rain Forrest Restaurant, Main Street.

Scott Turcotte placed first with a speech, “The Importance of Humor,” for a $50 cash award and trophy.

Rebecca Irwin was second with her speech, “Running,” for a $40 cash award and trophy.

Moe Beaulieu placed third with her speech, “Sea Lions,” for a $30 cash award and a trophy.

The students were judged on delivery of speech, material and responses to questions. Judging the contest were Lion Amber McCabe, Lion Donald Coltart, Lion and Pastor Gerhardt Meller. Asking questions were Lions Bill Mann and Phillip Thibodeau.

Monmouth Academy coaches Scott and Cathy Foyt were each presented a Lions Club International beverage mug in appreciation of the work they do at the school.
