Sunday services
NORWAY – Services at the First Universalist Church, Unitarian Universalist, 479 Main St., on Sunday, April 15, will be conducted by the Rev. Richard Beal, interim minister at the UU Church of Brunswick.
A native of Maine, Beal has served churches in Maine, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Michigan and New Zealand. His sermon will be “The Gospel and the Free Mind.” The service will start at 11 a.m., with choir practice before the service at 9:30. All are invited.
After the service there will be a coffee hour in the concert hall, followed by a congregational meeting to vote on calling a new minister. All members are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact the church office at 743-2828 or e-mail [email protected].
Watch meeting
NORWAY – An organizational meeting for a Neighborhood Watch program will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the town office.
Society dinner
WEST PARIS – The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold its annual membership dinner at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at the Heritage Center. Following the potluck dinner there will be a brief business meeting.
Clergy luncheon
PARIS – The Oxford Hills Area Clergy Association will offer a luncheon and reflections from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Deering Memorial United Methodist Church. The luncheon will be prepared by the people of Deering Memorial and a donation of $5 is asked. Area clergy will offer short reflections based on some of the themes and scriptures of Lent. Choir to visit
OXFORD – Hosanna Church of Oxford has announced that the New Creation mixed choir of Teen Challenge of New England will be at the morning and evening meetings, 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 15.
The men and women sing inspiring music and tell the stories of lives that have changed for the better. Teen Challenge of New England operates nine residential centers that help men and women, who have had major life issues, get on track.
Hosanna Church is located at 109 Schoolhouse Road. Admission will be free, but in the evening a special love offering will be received, to be given to Teen Challenge of New England.

Fundraiser
GRAY – A scholarship fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the American Legion Post 86, Route 100. The scholarship will honor Daniel Cunningham, who died in Iraq in April 2003. There will be flea market tables for $15. They can be reserve by calling Rick at 689-5137 or Pjaye at 797-7970
Bridge results
NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met April 6 in the Fare Share Commons, Main Street. Finishing first in Flight A were Ashley Bies and Les Buzzell; second, Jim Dickens and Dick Allen; third, Pat and Mike Quinn. Finishing first in Flight B were Barbara and Paul Beegel with Arlen Riis and Cindy Kirchherr second.

Awarded grants
PARIS – Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School life skills and transitions programs were each awarded $400 grants from the Region V, Advisory Council on Transition.
The life skills program used funds for transportation costs allowing the Oxford Hills Special Olympians to participate in the statewide events.
The transitions class has formed a partnership with the Career Center at the Western Maine University and Community College Center. Students are participating in a five-week job club at the Career Center.
Juniors and seniors will receive information, applications and support for Maine’s pre-apprenticeship program.
