Worship leader

PARIS – Peter G. Crumlish will be the worship leader at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 15.

Crumlish is chairman of the Religion/Ethics Department and director of college counseling at Hebron Academy. The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school.

Child care is provided. A coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Hunter course

OXFORD – A bow hunter safety training program will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Lake Thompson Clubhouse.

Students ages 10 to 12 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the full program. Space is limited to 40 students. It is sponsored by Lake Thompson Fish and Game. To register, contact Perry Edwards at 743-6290 or Art Bellwood at 539-2322.

Games night

NORWAY – As part of its Patron Appreciation Day on Wednesday, April 18, the Norway Memorial Library will offer Family Games Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the library’s multi-purpose room and children’s room.

Families are invited to stop in and play such classics as Monopoly, Scrabble, Battleship, dominoes and chess. Families who have a favorite game at home are welcome to bring it. The program is part of the month-long promotion, “Come Together @ Your Library.” No preregistration is required.

Society speaker

PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society will hold its first meeting following the winter recess at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the museum, 77 High St., South Paris.

The program will be presented by Barbara Swan Frost. She will speak on the early school houses in Paris. Refreshments will be served.

The museum will no longer be open on Saturdays, but it will continue to be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays beginning May 3. Call 743-2462 or 743-2384 for an appointment.

CPR classes

NORWAY – PACE Paramedic Service and Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer four-hour American Heart Association Heartsaver Adult and child CPR classes on Thursday, April 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 26, from 6 to 10 p.m.. Attendees will receive a certification at the end of the class.

To register for the class or for more information, contact PACE at 743-1562, ext. 704. Cost will be $15, which covers the cost of the book.

Screening

OTISFIELD – Otisfield Community School’s kindergarten screening will be held Thursday, May 10. Those who have a child who will be 5 years old by Oct. 15, 2007, should call Maureen at 627-4208 or 627-4144 for registration information and to schedule an appointment.

School event

OXFORD – An Oxford Elementary School kindergarten screening day will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, by appointment only. Students must be 5 by Oct. 15, 2007. Parents or guardians must provide a copy of immunization records and a birth certificate. Call the school at 539-4456 to find out about registering and making an appointment.

Classes set

OXFORD – Oxford Recreation is offering several programs. Beginning basket weaving will be offered on Tuesday evenings. The cost will be $10 for materials.

A scrapbooking and stamping event will be held on a Saturday. The cost will be $15 for materials. There will also be dog obedience training.

When and if these programs are to be held will be based on public response. Preference will be given to Oxford residents. There will be an additional charge for nonresidents. If interested, contact Pam Lovely at 539-4563.
