Lodge program

AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 16, at the meeting room of the Grand Lodge, IOOF, 80 Caron Lane. Snacks will be available during the social time when the 187th anniversary of Odd Fellowship will be observed.

The business meeting will begin at 7 p.m. The past noble grands and veteran members of the lodge will be honored. It is Living Legacy Month when members are encouraged to “Plant a Tree for One Who Comes After Me.” There will be an opportunity for the members to tell their plans.

Society speaker

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at the Old Schoolhouse, Route 26, next to the Poland Town Office. The speaker will be Charles Anthony of Durham.

Anthony is a Revolutionary War re-enactor and a tailor who specializes in creating the clothing of that era and he will appear in costume. He will speak on the fate of the Loyalists during the Revolutionary War. The public is welcome. Refreshments will be served following the talk.

Grange open house

GREENE – The Androscoggin Grange 8 will have its annual open house on Thursday, April 19, at 99 Main St. Light refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7.

State Grange Master Steve Verrill will speak about the grange and Greene historian Berkley Hobart will have a slide show of what it was like years ago in Greene. The Community Citizen Award will be presented. All are welcome. For more information, contact Marilyn Tripp at 933-2659.

Talk on ICD

LEWISTON – “The History of ICD Therapy” will be the topic of a presentation set for the Thursday, April 19, meeting of the Central and Western Maine ICD Support Group. The guest speaker will be Bob Thomas from the Boston Scientific Corp.

The support group is for individuals who have implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD). Family members and other support persons are also welcome. The meeting provides a forum for discussion regarding experiences with ICD and will present learning opportunities not only about living with the devices, but about cardiac health issues.

The meeting will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Chairmen’s Rooms A and B on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building adjacent to CMMC.
