Canton – Marcel J. Poulin, 83, a former resident of Jay, died Tuesday, April 10, at Victorian Villa Nursing Home following a long illness.

He was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Lac Frontiere, Quebec, Canada, the son of Adellville and Valeda (Giroux) Poulin, and attended the local schools.

On Sept. 10, 1960, he married Madeleine Raymond at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He worked at International Paper Co., Otis and Androscoggin Mills in Jay, in the loading and shipping departments. He was a member of the I.P. Quarter Century Club, fourth degree Knights of Columbus, council 320, and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, in Jay. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his wife of Jay; four daughters and their husbands, Marcia and Mike Clevesey of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary and David Betts of Kents Hill, Marissa and Mark Paradis of Livermore Falls, and Martina and Robert Eldridge of Arundel; three sons, Marcel A. Poulin and his wife, Paula, of Lewiston, Marcus Poulin and his wife, Lori, of Monona, Wis., and Charles Poulin of Auburn; two brothers, Joseph Poulin of Quebec and Phillip Poulin of Montreal,; a sister, Marie Veilleux of Jay; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters.
